Under new Fifa rules a player who has represented one country in under-21 internationals is allowed to play for another country at senior level.

"Mark Hughes has passed the name of Thatcher onto us and we are also checking other players to see if they qualify," an Football Association of Wales spokesman told BBC Sport.

Thatcher qualifies to play for Mark Hughes' side through a Welsh grandparent.
