"Lee fits into our price range but he has also got age on his side and has a bit of potential," manager Micky Adams said.
"I think we can improve him. We showed that with Paul Dickov and Lee has a very similar reputation of not being a natural finisher.
"We hope we can bring that out of him like we have with Paul.
"Lee is a centre forward. He can play out wide but he likes to operate down the middle and has got lightening pace.
"We are trying to get in younger players after adopting the other policy at the start of the season. We've have already brought in one with Peter Canero and Lee is of the same age group."
