Leicester confirm signing of Wout Faes from Reims

Leicester have completed the signing of Belgian defender Wout Faes from Stade Reims.

90min revealed on Wednesday that Faes had emerged as Leicester's preferred replacement for Wesley Fofana, who has since completed his move to Chelsea for an initial £70m.

24-year-old Faes has now sealed his own move to King Power Stadium, signing a five-year contract.

"It’s an amazing feeling [to be here]; it’s not sunk in yet," he said. "This is the dream step in my career and I’m very happy to be here.

"I’m progressing year after year, and I hope to continue doing the same here. All the facilities and knowledge is here to help me to get even better. I will have to work hard, but I will give 100 per cent to help the team.”

Faes becomes Leicester's second signing of the summer following the arrival of backup goalkeeper Alex Smithies on a free transfer.
