Leicester City Close to Signing Nice Midfielder Arnaud Lusamba on Free Transfer

Leicester City look set to sign Nice midfielder Arnaud Lusamba on a free transfer with his contract set to expire at the end of the season.

Lusamba is close friends with Foxes star Youri Tielemens, and the Belgium international is said to have been a contributing factor in persuading the midfielder to head to the King Power Stadium.

The Daily Mail report that clubs across Europe are monitoring the situation and are keen to secure the services of the 23-year-old, but it is Leicester who will win the race for Lusamba.

Brighton & Hove AlbionCrystal Palace, Sporting CP and Vitoria Guimaraes are closely following the negotiations of the midfielder, though they are all set to miss out on him as he heads to Leicester.

Lusamba is a former French Under-19 international in an age group that contained West Ham defender Issa Diop, Lyon midfielder Lucas Tousart and Leeds attacker Jean-Kevin Augustin.

Lusamba has finally broken into the Nice first team this season, following a year with Cercle Brugge in the Belgian Pro League, making 13 appearances for Patrick Vieira's side so far. The youngster will add depth to Leicester in a position that they've looked deficient this year.

The injury to Wilfred Ndidi has majorly effected the momentum of Leicester's season, with the Nigerian defensive midfielder playing the best football of his career.

Matty James, Hamza Choudhury and summer signing Dennis Praet have been attempting to fill in for Ndidi, but the Foxes' results and performances haven't been near the same level as when the Nigerian was in the starting XI, and they have faltered in recent weeks.

Even with the Foxes' stumbling form, Leicester look set to qualify for the Champions League, and this success will provide further funds to bolster the squad to make them competitive across multiple fronts.
