A squad that included Dion Dublin, Lilian Nalis, Matt Elliott and Danny Coyne made the short trip up the M1 to Shepshed Dynamo. The first team players were joined by several academy players who played out the second half.

Leicester City were clearly the strongest team despite the fact this was only a run out game, and were worthy winners. Dublin came close to opening the scoring in his first appearance in a Leicester shirt on the 21st minute.

In the end, it was Shepshed defender Adam Stevens who opened the scoring, putting into his own net in the 36th minute. Perhaps most encouraging for Leicester fans though, was the performance of some academy players. By the looks of things, we are going to see several academy products breaking into the first team this year. Richard Stearman in defence looked solid and brought praise from Matt Elliott. Up front, James Graham caught the eye bagging his second half hat trick in 22 minutes. It's encouraging to see young players like this breaking through from the club's Academy structure.

A crowd of 1,110 watched an entertaining game between the Poppies and First Division Leicester City.

The visitors took a very early lead through Tommy Wright in the second minute but Kettering Town showed some promising signs. Leicester fielded a strong team in the first half with Scowcroft, Benjamin, Heath and new signings Jason Wilcox, Gareth Williams and Danny Tiatto all on the field.

Kettering equalised against a second string Leicester side in the second half through trialist Mark Danks who scored a 66th minute penalty. Following the equaliser both teams had chances to win the game. It's wise to remember that this is was the teams first match, and was only seen as a run out. It's too early in pre-season to start making judgements on new players
