The 33-year-old, who is available on a free transfer, has passed a medical and is expected to sign a two-year contract at the Walkers Stadium later today.

2I see Craig as a utility player who can play in a variety of roles - up front, midfield or out wide," Adams told the clubs official website.

"He has got a good scoring record as well and has scored goals at every level including the Premiership. In fact he scored on his final appearance for Blackburn last season.

"So he will give us plenty of options and will be a very useful addition to the squad because of his versatility."
