"We have agreed to extend Scot's contract until the end of the season," manager Craig Levein told the club's official website.
"He hasn't featured a lot since Stephen Hughes arrived, but he is a model professional and he has been very helpful in the reserve team with the younger players.
"He's a good type to have around the place and also he is a very good player. If we need to play him then we will do."
