Ferdinand goes under the knife

Ferdinand went under the surgeons knife on Monday evening having aggravated the injury he picked up in the Foxes first game of the season against Southampton in Sundays friendly with Waterford, and is likely to be sidelined for about a month.

"It's not only a blow for the club but for Les as well, City boss Micky Adams told the Leicester Mercury.

"Since joining up with us in the summer he has had a stop-start season, but I'm confident that we'll see the best of him once he returns from injury."
