"Les has been to see a specialist and he gave him the choice of having an operation or being able to get through the rest of the season by managing the problem and doing little training.
"Les has chosen the latter option and I am delighted because we need strong characters in the dressing room and he is one of those.
"We missed people like him during last Saturday's unacceptable performance against Aston Villa without a shadow of a doubt."
