Update on Youri Tielemans contract talks

Leicester are prepared to make Youri Tielemans one of their highest earners, with a new £100,000-a-week deal in the offing for the mercurial midfielder.

The former Monaco man has cemented his place in the Foxes starting XI since arriving at the club in 2019, with his stellar performances a huge factor behind Brendan Rodgers' side's emergence as one of the Premier League's top teams.

Tielemans' current deal at the King Power Stadium is set to expire in 2023, and the Daily Mail report that the club have already opened talks regarding a bumper new £100,000-a-week deal in a bid to secure his future.

Rodgers has made no secret of his desire to retain the 23-year-old's services when asked of any potential contract talks, emphasising his importance to Leicester and their bid to maintain their place in the upper echelons of the Premier League.

"We would obviously love to extend his time here," he said.

"When he was brought in [initially on loan in January 2019] he was not playing at Monaco and he has shown over the last couple of seasons the qualities and improvements he's been able to make.

"He's a really important player and a joy to work with. He has incredible maturity for a young guy and you see the consistency now in his performances. He will have a couple of years left in the summer and I am sure the club will speak to him and his representatives."

Leicester travel to Wolves on Sunday looking to strengthen their case for a place in next season's Champions League.

The Foxes looked destined to finish in the top four last season, though their defeat to Manchester United on the final day ultimately meant they had to settle for fifth place.

Rodgers' side are unbeaten in their previous eight away outings in all competitions, and a win at Molineux could be a big step towards Champions League qualification.
