Taylor, who was sacked from the Leicester hotseat, took his Hull City team to the Walkers Stadium fully expecting a torrent of abuse. In reality all he got was a few half hearted chants with the majority of fans berating former City defender Alan Rogers.

Speaking after the contest Taylor said :-

I was surprised at the reception," he said. "I thought there would be more.

"I appreciate all that. I am realistic enough to know that I was not a popular manager here."

He added: "I didn't do as well as everybody would have liked, especially me.

"May be it was a little bit quiet but our supporters were fantastic as well.

"I would like to have the opportunity to come back here in the Championship next season, which would mean us both staying up, and the Leicester fans can have another go if they like!"

City went on to win the encounter 3-2 and keep themselves 8 points above the drop zone.
