Preston v Leicester

Last updated : 14 January 2011 By BBC Sport

Leicester are set to give a debut to striker Yakubu following his move on loan from Everton.

The Nigerian is set to replace Darius Vassell (hamstring), while fellow loan recruit Ben Mee is vying with Bruno Berner to start at left-back.

MATCH PREVIEW

Phil Brown takes charge of his first league match as Preston manager and needs to make an immediate impact. His new team are rooted to the bottom of the table, have lost their last three Championship matches, and are seven points adrift of safety.

The task facing Brown is substantial. He must restore confidence to a side that has lost 15 and won only five league matches all season, and has conceded a whopping 45 goals - more than any other team in the division.

Brown has quickly taken steps to try and improve North End's squad, bringing midfielder Amine Linganzi on loan along with striker Nathan Ellington, who enjoyed a brilliant spell in the north-west during his Wigan days and will be hoping to recapture some of that form.

Leicester, meanwhile, are 12th in the table and their owners are keen to finance a promotion push during the second half of the campaign. The Foxes are unbeaten in 2011, but only strugglers Crystal Palace have conceded more goals away from home this season.
