"I am pleased to have got through what was a potential banana skin for us," the boss told the official Leicester website.

"Stevenage applied themselves very well and made us work hard but ultimately our quality shone through in the end and the scoreline could have been even more emphatic.

"But after our midweek slip up at Rotherham it was important that we put in a solid performance and got into the next round - and that's exactly what we did.

"Stevenage had an early chance and if the lad had tucked that away then it could have been a completely different game but he didn't and after that I thought we controlled matters.

"We certainly upped the tempo in the second half and starved them of possession. We really played some decent football and that's encouraging."
