Paris Saint-Germain Chasing Leicester City Midfielder Wilfred Ndidi

French champions Paris Saint-Germain are reported to be chasing the signature of Leicester City star Wilfred Ndidi, as they look to augment their midfield for next season.

Nigeria international Ndidi has impressed since his arrival in the Premier League, having moved from Belgian side Genk for £15m in 2017 as a replacement for N’Golo Kanté.

Regularly topping the Premier League tackle charts, Ndidi has been linked with several of Europe's biggest and best in recent transfer windows.

ESPN report that PSG, who are said to be in the market for central midfield reinforcements, see Ndidi as their number one target this summer, though Leicester are unlikely to be prised of their star asset for less than £45m.

Despite making a significant outlay last summer in which the Parisians looked to strengthen their midfield, PSG sporting director Leonardo is said to be in the market for an aggressive holding midfielder. Less than 12 months ago, both Idrissa Gueye and Leandro Paredes arrived at Parc des Princes, for a combined fee of around £66m.

Ndidi is not the only midfielder said to be on the PSG sporting director’s wishlist. Atlético Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey is also said to be being monitored by the French champions.

The Ghana international has been at Atlético since 2012 having come through their youth academy and is believed to have a contractual buyout clause of £43.7m.

Wantaway Chelsea midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko is another option for PSG. The 25-year-old Frenchman endured a torrid time in the Premier League before being loaned out to AC Milan and more recently Monaco.

Despite a solid season in Ligue 1, Monaco look unlikely to trigger his £30m release clause.

Sporting director Leonardo looks set for a busy summer in the transfer market, with full backs
Thomas Meunier and Layvin Kurzawa out of contract in the coming months.

Neither full-back looks likely to sign a new deal at the Paris club, with a number of Premier League sides reportedly interested in acquiring the services of Meunier.
