The Serbian businessman has been in talks with the Walkers Stadium based club for the past three months. However, due to complicated financial settlements, the takeover has provoked a huge amount of frustration for all involved.

Mandaric (left) had hoped to take complete ownership of the club last week but further complications became apparent, casuing further delays.

It was speculated that Mandaric would today (Thursday) be confirmed as owner of the Foxes, however his 86-year-old mother has fallen seriously ill and her state has been described as 'unstable'.

Therefore Ex Portsmouth Chairman, Milan Mandaric, who hoped to complete his takeover of the club in time for the January transfer window has left England and travelled to be by his mothers side in Belgrade, delaying a possible takeover of the club even further.

In an official statement, Mandaric's agents said this:

"Due to personal and unforeseen circumstances Milan Mandaric's ongoing negotiations with LCFC have had to be put on temporary hold.

"Milan flew to Europe this morning to be with his 86-year-old mother, who has been taken seriously ill in hospital."
