Leicester's Team of the Decade: 2010-2019

It's fair to say that it's probably been Leicester City's greatest ever decade. I'm not sure if you heard, but Leicester actually won the Premier League title in 2016 and have achieved feats thought impossible by many.

The Foxes forged their name in to football folklore and created the greatest underdog story since Rocky.

Dilly ding, dilly dong, eh?

Let's all remember that in the first half of the decade, Leicester were in the Championship and just before the decade began, they were briefly in League One. Talk about rising from the ashes...no offence, League One.

With all this in mind, let's take a look back at Leicester's greatest team of the past decade.

Goalkeeper & Defenders

Kasper Schmeichel

Kasper Schmeichel (GK) Following in his father's rather large footsteps was always going to be Kasper's greatest challenge. But regardless of comparisons between the pair, the Leicester keeper is world class in his own right. Having joined Leicester in 2011, Schmeichel had to be the goalkeeper of the decade for the Foxes as he's pretty much the only one they've had...and boy are they grateful for it.

Ricardo Pereira (RB) - The right back has made adjusting to life in the Premier League look easy. Since moving to the King Power back in 2017, Pereira has consistently been one of the best full backs in the top flight, with his pace, power and marauding runs vital in Leicester's current success.

Wes Morgan (CB) - Living proof that you don't need to be quick to be a centre back - just bloody massive - Leicester's title-winning captain will go down as one of the club's greatest ever defenders. And considering he used to play for rivals Nottingham Forest, that really is some achievement. The 35-year-old is winding down his playing days, but the King Power will be forever indebted to big old Morgan.

Robert Huth (CB) - Another example of not needing to be fast to be a good centre back is the German. His defensive partnership with Morgan paved the way for the Foxes in 2015/16 and cries of "HUUUUUUTH" still echo around the city of Leicester to this very day.

Christian Fuchs (LB) - With a left foot an NFL kicker would be proud of, Fuchs is another member of Leicester's title-winning stars. A rare breed of modern day full back who is actually better at defending than attacking, the Austrian joined the club on a free transfer from Schalke back in 2015 and the rest is history.

Midfielders

Leicester City v Manchester United - Premier League

Riyad Mahrez (RM) - The one they hoped would never leave, Mahrez eventually said goodbye to the King Power following some remarkable seasons at Leicester. Having arrived for approximately £400,000 from Le Havre back in 2014, the Algerian burst on to the scene to become one of the league's best wingers. Voted the Premier League Player of the Year back in 2015/16, Mahrez helped Leicester achieve the unthinkable and, regardless of current feelings towards the attacker, he has still earned his place in Leicester's history books.

Danny Drinkwater (CM) - Why did he leave? It has all gone spectacularly downhill for Drinkwater since his move to Chelsea back in 2017. But when history looks back on the Englishman, they will remember his Leicester days. Well, hopefully, for his sake. His perfectly-weighted long balls in behind for Jamie Vardy still leave defenders waking up in a hot sweat at 2AM, and went a long way in helping Leicester to their maiden Premier League crown.

N'Golo Kante (CM) - It's difficult to find a genuinely nice bloke who is also incredibly good at football, but if you're looking then here he is. Still driving around Leicester in his little Mini Cooper after the Foxes had won the league, Kante shows that hard work and determination pays dividends. One of the best defensive midfielders the Premier League has ever seen, the World Cup-winner has gone on to achieve great things for club and country, and it all really began at Leicester.

Marc Albrighton (LM) - Plonk him anywhere and he'll run for days. Leicester's versatile wide midfielder has become a fan favourite through sheer work ethic alone, but he sure can whip a good ball in as well. Also, the title winner scored the Premier League's 20,000th goal back with Aston Villa.

Forwards

Jamie Vardy

Shinji Okazaki (ST) - Another of football's lovable nice guys, Okazaki can do no wrong in Leicester supporters' eyes. The Japan striker may not have been elegant or graceful or even amazing at football, but he certainly won the hearts of all in Leicester. And anyway, he has more Premier League titles than Lionel Messi.

Jamie Vardy (ST) - If you visit Leicester, murals of this man will greet you across the city. Loyalty isn't dead in football. Whatever you think of having Red Bull for breakfast, it doesn't matter, because Vardy has made it work. His blistering pace, as well as his accomplished finishing in front of goal, has made him one of the greatest strikers to have ever played for the Foxes. Love him or hate him, he's a darn good footballer.
