Leicester and Tottenham to dominate Professional Footballers Association awards

The two sides are contesting the most unlikely race for Premier League glory and their players are set to dominate when the PFA rewards this season's outstanding performers at London's Grosvenor House.

The Player of the Year Award, currently held by Chelsea's Eden Hazard, appears to be a two-horse race between Leicester pair Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez, but Tottenham's 30-goal Harry Kane is also in the reckoning.

N'Golo Kante, another Leicester player to earn rave reviews this season, has also been nominated and is among the outsiders for the main prize along with West Ham's Dimitri Payet and Arsenal's Mesut Ozil.

Tottenham's Dele Alli is red-hot favourite for the Young Player of the Year award, while team-mate for club and country Kane is also in contention to retain the junior prize he won last season.

Everton pair Romelu Lukaku and Ross Barkley, Liverpool's Philippe Coutinho and Stoke goalkeeper Jack Butland make up the nominees

The PFA will also announce the winner of the Merit Award, but was forced to bring forward confirmation of its Divisional Teams of the Year after they were leaked on Twitter on Thursday

Sunderland striker Beth Mead is in contention to win both the Women's Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year awards

Gemma Davison, Hedvig Lindahl, Ji So-Yun (all Chelsea) and Izzy Christiansen (Manchester City) have also been nominated for the senior prize
