Leicester 1-0 Derby - Post Match Reaction

Leicester Manager Craig Levein:

"We played exceptionally well. The first half was reminiscent of the way that we played up at Sunderland on Saturday. We showed a better winning mentality in the second half against and we deserved our victory.

"We used up a lot of energy in the first half because it was wave after wave of attack and we played some scintillating stuff.

"What pleased me was the fact that we didn't play like a team who were scared. We were brave enough to take the ball in tight situations apart from just clearing it and hoping for the best.

"We all want to play good football, but I will always sacrifice that for winning matches. Our supporters have not seen enough victories in the Walkers Stadium. The good thing tonight was not only was it a home match, it was also a derby match as well.

"We had nobody to blame but ourselves for being in the position we are in the league. We certainly won't be patting ourselves on the back. We spoke in the dressing room afterwards about how a team of this class and quality shouldn't have to be relying on winning a match at home three games before the end of the season to stave off the threat of relegation. That's not acceptable.

"On the other hand we are rebuilding and hopefully our supporters will have seen tonight the signs of an emerging team. If we can make some decent signings going into next season then we can improve and do even better.

"We saw a lot of encouraging signs tonight and we want to win both of our final games now."

Derby Manager George Burley:

"I told the players in the dressing room afterwards that they can't be disappointed about the season we're having and we still have everything to play for. They have a lot of heart, a lot of spirit and they have come such a long way in the last year.

"They're battlers and will be battling all the way to reach the play-offs."

"I thought Leicester were the better team and deserved the win."

"It was a bit of a crazy goal to concede but Leicester deserved the three points.

"You look at the Leicester squad and how much money they have spent and where they are, and then you look at our squad. We haven't spent anything and look where we are.
