clubs such as Fulham, Wigan Athletic, Birmingham City and West Bromwich Albion.

The signing of Horsfield, who will wear the number nine shirt, brings some good news to the Walkers Stadium after the dissapointing departure of Gareth Williams to Premiership strugglers Watford earlier today.

Commenting on the signing, City Boss Rob Kelly said: 'We have been after Geoff for a while but have not had the finances to do the deal. He gives us something different up front. He has a physical presence, experience and he knows the division well.'

Meanwhile, another transfer has been completed, bringing young Tottenham winger Mark Yeates to the club.

The 22 year old has made just four appearances for Spurs but enjoyed a highly successful loan spell at Championship outfit Colchester. He played 44

matches for Colchester during last seasons promotion campaign before returning to White Hart Lane.

The Irishman has been allocated the number eight shirt.

'Mark is a talented young player. He can play on either side and gives us something different to what we have already got.' said Kelly.
