Foxes Show Strength

The Foxes continued their impressive start to the season with a well earned point at Bramall Lane last night, giving them five points from their opening three league games.

And it was injury doubt, Matty Fryatt who fired in the opener for the Foxes early in the second half.

But a wonder strike from 20-year-old Keith Treacy, who scored his first goal for Sheffield United from a stunning 25 yards out, helped preserve a point for the home side.

Talking after the game, Pearson said: 'Right from the word go I thought we could be competitive. For the players themselves, coming to Sheffield in particular who are billed as a major side with a lot of expectation, it showed there is no reason why we can't compete.

'There will be times in this league, because it is so tough, when things won't go our way, but for the players here and at Ipswich on Saturday they can see they can compete so if there was any doubt in their minds, those last two tough away games should show them they can be competitive.'

City's point last night came at a cost however, with Steve Howard and Martyn Waghorn both picking up hamstring injuries during the action. Pearson may have a selection nightmare to deal come Saturday's trip of Barnsley to the Walkers Stadium.
