Holmes has launched a campaign to change the club's name back to Leicester Fosse - as the city's original team was known until 1919.

"Originally in 1884 this club was called Leicester Fosse when it was formed. It was known as Leicester Fosse until 1919," Holmes told the club's official website.

"I want to inititiate a debate as to a new club name. I have been thinking about this for some time now and I have a view. I want to start the debate because ultimately it is the fans who should decide what the club should be called.

"I am suggesting that we revert to the name Leicester Fosse from next season.

"Over the next couple of weeks we will have a debate through the local media as to whether the fans want to stick with City or they want to go with Fosse."
