Claudio Ranieri sees huge potential in Leicester prospect Joe Dodoo

Ranieri will hand the 20-year-old his full home debut against West Ham in the Capital One Cup third round on Tuesday night, as Leicester look to maintain their unbeaten start to the season.

Dodoo has been well known in academy circles for some time but announced himself on the senior stage in the previous round of the competition with a hat-trick to help the Foxes beat Bury 4-1.

He made his Barclays Premier League debut as a 71st-minute substitute at Bournemouth four days later.

Ranieri has been impressed with Dodoo, recently advising the club to open discussions with the player about a new contract, and believes he has a good prospect on his hands.

"I think he has a very good future," said Ranieri

"I speak to him a lot and he is a young player who is very focused and concentrated on his job

"He is fast and when he shoots at goal, between 80 to 90 per cent of the time he hits the target

That is very good, that's a good relationship with the goal

"He is versatile also, he can play as a striker or out on the flank

"He is ambitious but also a very quiet boy

He is still learning and it is important for him now to understand the game and gain important experience for his future

"It will be very important for him to play at the King Power Stadium, for the academy and for all the young players at the academy

"I look at the young players and if there is someone, I will bring them through."

Dodoo's inclusion will be one of many, most probably 11, changes made my Ranieri against West Ham

But despite rotating his squad, the Leicester boss remains hopeful of maintaining their unbeaten run and has urged those players coming into the team to seize their opportunity to impress

"All the players are in good condition and I am a very lucky man because I can choose between 24 and 25 players in good condition," said Ranieri

"I will change a lot of players

I think it will be more or less the same that played the last round of the cup

They are very good players and they deserve to continue to play for the match tomorrow

"Before the matches I look and everyone works very hard, but I can pick just 11

But there are also others who deserve to play

"In the last round against Bury I changed a lot, and also tomorrow I will change a lot to give everybody the opportunity to show their best

"Concentration is important and i t is important to win against a very good team, we need to keep going

"I am always looking in every training session for players to impress me, and if someone makes a very good match against West Ham, then I am waiting."

Mark Schwarzer will be in goal for the third-round tie while the likes of Danny Simpson, Yohan Benalouane, Christian Fuchs, Marcin Wasilewski, Dean Hammond, Andrej Kramaric and Leonardo Ulloa will all come into contention for starting roles

Young players such as Harry Panayiotou, Andre Olukanmi, Jonny Maddison and Ben Chilwell may be included in the squad, but on-loan winger Nathan Dyer is cup-tied having already played in the competition for Swansea
