Bye Bye Micky

On his way ...
There was a sense of the inevitable about today's decision. For the last week, I've been flicking on ceefax expecting to see an announcement. The fact that he didn't face the media after the Preston game seemed to put the writing on the wall.

Well, what to make of it all?

The time was right to go ... We have not lived up to the fans expectations in this league, and performances have not been spectacular - just mediocre at best. Leicester City have a tremendous squad of players who have not been performing. Who is to blame for this? Some blame has to fall at the door of the players themselves, while Micky Adams must also take his share of the blame. He at least hinted at that today, saying that he understood the fans' frustrations.

As a fan, I've seen the Micky Adams that triumphed over administration leaping about his technical area, become a man that relied on Alan Cork to do all his shouting. He doesn't appear to have had the club's best interests at heart for some time.

He has understandably been upset by the criticism that's been levelled at him, but much of it has been justified. Again, he compiled a squad that is made of 'older' players. Youth has not been given a great chance. Leicester City Mad reported on the Barnsley friendly this summer, in which two youth team players performed impressively. Why have they not featured? I am referring to Richard Stearman particularly.

The younger players that have featured have under performed. Jordan Stewart being the main culprit. My dislike of this player is known, but under Micky Adams he seemed to have 9 lives - not matter what happened he'd pop up in the starting 11!

Tactical ineptitude - notably against QPR - has also led to our downfall. Being down to 10 men, Micky puts a defender up front (stupid!).

That said, the football fans in Leicester know that they have a lot to owe to Micky Adams. Certainly - my favourite moments as a Leicester fan came in the promotion season 2 years ago.

I only hope that we can now put this business behind us, and come through it. Micky thinks we can still get promoted. I'd say "keep the faith," but it seems somewhat trite now!
