The 33 year old striker, who has represented a wealth of clubs including Reading, Sheffield Utd, Stoke and Millwall has been linked with a move to City after the veteran began training with the club earlier today.

Free agent, Asaba has also recently been on trial at Leeds Utd but failed to
Carl Asaba
impress the Championship outfit enough for boss Kevin Blackwell to offer the striker a permanent position at the club.

Asaba has scored an impressive 119 English league goals since his move from Dulwich Hamelt in 1994.

When commenting on Asaba, City manager Rob Kelly said: 'Carl is a free agent and we have taken this opportunity to have a look at him. He knows the division well and has a wealth of experience.'

The transfer window has closed until January. However, due to Asaba being a free agent, a move to the Walkers Stadium looks likely to happen in the near future.
