Adams forced into changes

Centre-half Gerry Taggart picked up a groin injury against Liverpool at the weekend and is added to the list of players sidelined for the game at Gresty Road.

"One or two will be left out, rested or sitting on the bench just in case we need them," Adams told the Leicester Mercury.

"But having said that, there are people wanting a chance. With a bigger squad than last year, we will have a decent side out.

"I spoke to some managers who struggled in the Premiership last season and asked them what they thought about the cups and quite clearly the message from them was 'don't risk your big stars', keep them fresh for the league. I can understand that to a degree.

"But I don't feel that we should adopt a mentality that it is okay to go out of the Carling Cup against Crewe in the second round and accept that.

"I don't think that would help anybody's confidence at this stage so we are approaching it positively and we want to see how far we can progress in the competition."
