Foxes boss Sven-Goran Eriksson had been resigned to losing the midfielder for most of next month, with the tournament in Qatar taking place between January 7 - 29.
"Japan did not pick him and that is good news for us," said Eriksson.
"They want to look at younger players ahead of the next World Cup. Yuki is happy to stay as he never wanted to go."
