Leicester confident of signing Charles De Ketelaere despite Leeds interest

Leicester City are confident of signing Charles De Ketelaere from Club Brugge this summer despite strong interest from Leeds, 90min understands.

21-year-old De Ketelaere has established himself as one of Europe's brightest young talents in recent years, registering 18 goals and ten assists in all competitions last season.

90min understands that the Foxes have been tracking the forward for months, though they are not the only club interested. Milan are among several European sides monitoring the situation and Leeds are extremely keen too.

Sources have indicated that Club Brugge are holding out for €40m for De Ketelaere. Both Leicester and Leeds are ultimately willing to pay that fee, but they will likely test the waters with opening bids closer to €30m.

The Foxes have a history of recruiting Belgian players with Youri Tielemans, Timothy Castagne and Dennis Praet all signing in recent years.

However, 90min understands that the latter's time at the King Power Stadium is coming to an end. Praet spent the 2021/22 season on loan at Torino and he is now in talks with Fiorentina over a permanent exit. His departure should free up some of the funds required to sign De Ketelaere.

Meanwhile, although Leicester are still preparing for Youri Tielemans to depart the club this summer, they would be happy to keep him for a further season if a deal cannot be agreed.

Arsenal have been most strongly linked with the midfielder but Manchester United have also been touted as a possible destination for the 2021 FA Cup final match-winner.
