Leicester City Open Negotiations With Sporting CP Regarding Out of Favour Midfielder Adrien Silva

Despite having only officially signed for Leicester City in January 2018, the Foxes are already considering the sale of Portuguese midfielder Adrien Silva as former club Sporting CP wait in the wings.

A £22m fee was agreed on deadline day in the summer of 2017 between Leicester and Sporting, but the paperwork was not completed until 14 seconds after the deadline. Therefore, Silva's move to Leicester was delayed until January and his career with the Foxes has never got going since.

A Bola have reported that Leicester have now agreed to negotiate the sale of Silva with Sporting CP, as reported by A Bola (via Sport Witness). The Portuguese side's interest spiked after their Brazilian midfielder Wendel was ruled out for two months with an injury.

However, whilst Leicester City are willing to negotiate, there is no guarantee that the move will happen. Having paid £22m for Silva two summers ago, the Foxes will be keen to recoup some of that investment.

Comparatively, Sporting CP are equally as keen to engineer a cut-price deal to bring the Portuguese midfielder back to the club. In fact, Sporting are initially bargaining for a loan deal in which they will demand that Leicester pay a percentage of Silva's wages.

One thing that is working in favour of this deal is the fact that former owner of Sporting CP, Bruno de Carvalho, has left the club. Silva was one of many Sporting players who had a poor rapport with the owner and his departure will have likely made the move a more enticing prospect for the midfielder.

Silva has made just 27 appearances for Leicester City since his move from Sporting, with just five of those coming this season. The Portuguese international seems to have lost the trust of Claude Puel and a move away from the King Power Stadium seems to be the only way for the midfielder to get regular game time once again.

Following Leicester's 2-0 loss to Tottenham on Saturday evening, the Foxes face an away trip to Crystal Palace. Prior to their defeat against Spurs, Puel's side had gone seven games unbeaten and will be looking to continue in a similar vein once more.
