Jamie Vardy's Incredible Goalscoring Record Since Brendan Rodgers Joined Leicester

Much was expected of Brendan Rodgers' return to the Premier League, but even the most bullish of Leicester City fans would not have predicted the turnaround at King Power Stadium since.

A strong finish to the 2018/19 campaign and an even stronger start to the Northern Irishman's first full season has seen the Foxes emerge as meritorious title contenders, with their swashbuckling brand of football fixing them firmly into the chasm that has opened up between leaders Liverpool and defending champions Manchester City

But while Leicester as a team have profited immensely from the import of the former Celtic boss, one man in particular has reaped the benefits more than anyone else.

That man would be the Premier League's runaway top scorer; Jamie Vardy.

The 32-year-old hit a double in his side's 4-1 win over Aston Villa that kept the league leaders just about in sight, taking him to 16 goals in 16 games this season, putting him five goals in front of anyone else since the start of the season.

Rodgers' system seems to fit the talisman to a tee, and that's evidenced further when you look at his strike rate since the manager joined the club in March this year.

With 25 goals in the 26 games dating back to that 2-1 defeat to Watford on 3rd March, Vardy has scored eight goals more than any other Premier League player has managed in the same period.

With his double against Villa, he also became only the second player in history after Ruud van Nistelrooy to net in eight consecutive Premier League games on two separate occasions, highlighting further just how influential a player he can be under a manager who shows him the requisite faith.

Leicester will host Norwich next weekend before their EFL Cup tie with Everton, after which their title credentials will face their toughest test yet.

They have a Christmas double-header with Manchester City and Liverpool. facing the champions on 21st December before the Reds come to town on Boxing Day.

And if Vardy can take his best form into those then who knows; the title challenge may only be strengthened further.
